| Autumn Newsletter
Hello one and all! Wow, the weather has been atrocious hasn't it? The wettest July and August ever? My tomatoes are literally rubbish! Besides the weather everything here at the Journeyman Furniture studio and gallery is panning out rather well for 2010.
It has been an eventful year so far starting with a show at Cotehele House Gallery titled 'House Beautiful' featuring a number of furniture designer makers from the South West. In June I launched a new collection of furniture at The Contemporary Craft Fair, Bovey Tracey and a couple of weeks ago The Cornwall Design Fair in association with Hidden Art was a delight to take part in as it is only 8 miles down the road!
London Design Festival at the V&A
I have some exciting news to share which is one of the reasons the Autumn Newsletter is a little early!
The Footprint table has been selected to be exhibited at the Victoria and Albert Museum during the London Design Festival from 18th - 26th September.

What is so special about this table is that the footprints contoured into the top surface of the table are also carved out of the underside, giving the viewer the impression that the table has been walked on and the surface has been pushed through. It is a true combination of hand crafted skill and state of the art technology.
The Victoria and Albert Museum is home to the world's largest collection of art and design in the world. The Exhibition Road entrance and Sackler Centre will be transformed for the duration of the London Design Festival into a dynamic, inspiring environment, featuring a handpicked selection of contemporary furniture chosen by designer Suzanne Trocmé.
On Monday the 20th September there will be an opportunity to meet me and other designer makers taking part and ask about their process, design and craftsmanship. This will take part between the times of 11.00 - 17.00.
Craftpoint
Also held at the Journeyman Furniture studio and gallery at the end of July was Craftpoint an exciting new venture figureheaded by Carole Lomas. Craftpoint was launched to promote designer makers and introduce handcrafted quality work to a wider audience. Craftpoint is a pop-up shop selling a range of interior and fashion products from some of Cornwall’s best craftspeople and designer-makers. The first pop-up was held in Hayle in association with Journeyman Furniture.
Carole said "We had just under 3 weeks to put it all together – branding, contacting makers and selecting work, marketing, set-up - hard work but brilliant results."
The doors opened on Friday 30th July and over the 3 day weekend the shop was visited by around 200 people. Sunday was the busiest (and rainiest) day and customers came from Hayle and other local towns. We had lots of visitors from further afield, Brighton, Doncaster, Scotland, Germany, Spain and the Netherlands. Very cosmopolitan – all in my studio on the harbourside in Hayle.
